Food And Drink ? The Way To Make A Chocolate Cake At Home

It?s time to wave goodbye to cake mixes that come in a box. Why use a box to make a cake when you can use a homemade chocolate cake recipe? When you put the ingredients in the cake yourself, you will know exactly what you will end up on your table at the end, and that?s worth far more than the little amount of added effort it takes to make a chocolate cake recipe from scratch. Besides that, everybody knows a home made chocolate cake recipe is going to taste miles better than what comes out of a box. The likelihood is that you already have a lot of the ingredients too.

What you?ll need:

- Half cup of butter or margarine

- Two (2) cups of sugar

- Three medium eggs

- 1 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla

- 3 squares of baker?s chocolate

- 2 cups of flour

- 2 tsp. of sodium bicarbonate

- Half a teaspoon of salt

- One (1) cup of sour cream

- 1 cup of boiling water

Preparation:

1. Mix together the butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl.

2. Crack the eggs into the bowl and continue to mix.

3. Then add the vanilla and chocolate and mix vigorously.

4. Add the remaining ingredients. (It helps to sift the dry ingredients.) Use an electric beater if you have one handy as it will make the process much easier.

5. Pour the mix into a lightly greased cake tin.

6. In a heated oven at 350F, bake the cake batter for thirty-five (35) minutes. Keep a watch on it near the end.

A few notes regarding allergic reactions and lifestyle preferences.

Vegans: Some vegans choose to avoid consuming butter or margarine or perhaps eggs and sour cream. As these ingredients represent a major portion of the recipe I?d suggest avoiding this particular recipe. Celiac?s: Rice flour is an alternative; but it makes the batter thinner leading to a dryer baked product.

Nuts: Whilst the recipe is nut-free some people may decide to add nuts to the recipe for their texture. My suggestion would be walnuts or perhaps almonds. The almonds should be thinly sliced and peeled.

Also, if time is a problem and you want some form of frosting then a thin layer of double cream with a drizzle of honey is a good short-cut.

When the chocolate cake has finished baking, simply remove it from the oven to cool down. Before it is completely cooled, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a delicious combination.
